Artist Statement

Taking inspiration from the world around me, my body of work captures human and nature interactions. While they are beautiful and revolutionary, they are also heartbreaking and destructive. The many achievements humans have had over the years has had their toll on the environment. More and more people are taking for granted the natural wonders our planet has to offer. I enjoy living my life within nature, and how I see myself and others in it. Exploring the use of different mediums, colors, and concepts, I am able to communicate these emotions I have for this subject matter. Bright and colorful hues depict the joyful experiences one has in nature. While many of the darker hues demonstrate a life without it because of our actions. My style is still evolving, but my individuality and aesthetic is always present in every piece I make. There are many major learning outcomes incorporated in why I create the work I do. I can draw awareness to issues like our role we have in our ecosystems. Additionally through trial and error, I am learning more about the materials and subjects I work with. Growing my portfolio has taught me how to think more critically. I now value research and self reflection because my art reflects my understanding on such topics. It also has helped to evaluate my process to conceptualize my thoughts and feelings about the world we live in. I use my platform to share my experiences through my eyes in photography, painting, and illustrating. I believe we can all be one with nature because without it, we are nothing.
